We met in medical school in the U.S four years ago and got married just last month in Chicago, according to Hindu and Jewish traditions. Since the registry concept is very common in the U.S we created ours on Zola (a popular American registry portal) and shared the link with family and friends via e-invites. The gifts we got will be immensely helpful to us in setting up our new home.
Since Ankit is from India, we wanted to plan a reception in Delhi shortly after our wedding so that we could meet family and friends who could not make it to the states. With 200-300 invitations going out, we were worried about how we would manage the gifts that we would be receiving – cash is difficult to convert and take back and most gifts would be too bulky to fit in our luggage.
That is when the team at For My Shaadi came to our rescue. We heard about the service and were delighted that we now had the option of a gift registry in India. We immediately created our registry while sitting in the U.S, added gifts that were not just practical and easy to carry but would be useful to us as well. We sent out the details of our registry with the invitation cards and are now overjoyed with the fact that we have a whole lot of really cool stuff to take back with us.
Home decor items from brands like Magppie, Arttdinox, Episode Silver and personal items from coveted brands like Truefitt & Hill, Ethos Watches, Rayban, Nikon, Jammu Styles, Ananda and FourSeven, are the kind of gifts that we chose to spoil ourselves with. The best part was that they even had a chip-in feature which gave our friends and family the option to pool in towards gifts as per their budgets!
We finally received all the gifts together, beautifully packaged in their green and gold glory on our wedding day!
Thoroughly enjoyed every bit of this and recommend For My Shaadi to all the to-be-weds reading this.
